Layton and GG...

My mother has been waiting for a long time for little Layton to walk in the yard with her. Finally, they got to. He is almost running now... busy, busy all the time!

Heed the Signals...

This is from Max Lucado's devotional: Heed the Signals...
Ecclesiastes 12:13
"Honor God and obey his commands, because this is all people must do."
Below are God given, time-tested truths
  1. Love God more than you fear hell.
  2. Make major decisions in a cemetery.
  3. When no one is watching, live as if someone is.
  4. Succeed at home First.
  5. Don't spend tomorrow's money today.
  6. Pray twice as much as you fret.
  7. God has forgiven you; you'd be wise to do the same.

Pretty good advice, huh?

Just enough for Today...

I am reading through Exodus now. Amazing...The Israelites were brought out of Egypt and wandered in the desert for 40 years, and ate manna everyday. By the way, there were 600,000 men on foot, not counting women, children, and others, along with their animals. The above picture is coriander seed. This is what manna looked like. They were to gather an "omer", which is about 2 quarts per person per day. Exodus 16:31 "The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey." Can you imagine eating this for "40" years. I just imagine they became creative. I am just fascinated.
Exodus 16:4
"Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions."
We can all learn from this.....God gives us "just enough" for Today. If the Israelites gathered too much it became spoiled. They were not suppose to worry about tomorrow. Ponder this, Hmmmmm.

It is still July-look at these Patriotic Cupcakes!

I found this recipe on another website (Simple and Delicious).

Patriotic Cupcakes
1 package (18-1/4 ounces) white cake mix
1/2 teaspoon blue food coloring (I used gel)
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (I used gel)
1 can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting or your own frosting
Red, white and blue sprinkles

Prepare cake batter according to package directions. In a small bowl, combine 1-1/3 cups batter and blue food coloring. In another bowl, combine 1-1/3 cups batter and red food coloring. Leave remaining batter plain. Fill 18 paper-lined muffin cups with 2 tablespoons red batter, 2 tablespoons plain batter and 2 tablespoons blue batter. Bake at 350° for 20-24 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely. Frost with vanilla frosting; decorate with sprinkles.

Buttercream Frosting

1/2 cup butter softened
4 2/3 cup powdered sugar
milk (I use about 3-4 Tbsp)
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Put butter in bowl and beat with electric mixer until fluffy. Then add about half the powdered sugar. Then beat in 1 Tablespoon milk and the vanilla. Slowly add in the rest of the powdered sugar. Add more milk if needed. Add food coloring if desired

Deuteronomy 31:8

Well, this verse is definitely for me...in my real estate business, we definitely at times are discouraged and we encounter others that are discouraged throughout each day. My clients are not all experiencing "happy" times when they are buying or selling property. It could be due to an illness, divorce, death, economic, and the list goes on. This verse is for everyone~ what a comfort!

"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

Exhausted from Heat vs Heat Exhaustion...

It has been extremely HOT outside. It seems like everywhere I go, I am wet, sweating (glowing) and I love hot weather, but good grief, this is heat is too much. We need a break,
Heat exhaustion : Signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion often begin suddenly, sometimes after excessive exercise, heavy perspiration and inadequate fluid intake. Signs and symptoms resemble those of shock and may include:
  • Feeling faint or dizzy
  • Nausea
  • Heavy sweating
  • Rapid, weak heartbeat
  • Low blood pressure
  • Cool, moist, pale skin
  • Low-grade fever
  • Heat cramps
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Dark-colored urine

If you suspect heat exhaustion:
Get the person out of the sun and into a shady or air-conditioned location.
Lay the person down and elevate the legs and feet slightly.
Loosen or remove the person's clothing.
Have the person drink cool water.
Cool the person by spraying or sponging him or her with cool water and fanning.
Monitor the person carefully. Heat exhaustion can quickly become heatstroke.
If fever greater than 102 F (38.9 C), fainting, confusion or seizures occur, dial 911 or call for emergency medical assistance. Information gathered from the Mayo Clinic.

Here am I !

Genesis 46:2 (New International Version)

2 And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, "Jacob! Jacob!"

"Here I am," he replied.

I have been reading through the book of Genesis again. It has been a long time since I have read it and pondered on every word! I find it so fascinating, and there is so much history in one Book of the Bible. If you get a chance, start reading Genesis, even it is one chapter a day. From wonder to absolute pain, I have been so blessed. The verse above really spoke to me today. The King James Version, says "Here am I". You know it was a simple response from Jacob, and what follows is Jacob journeying to see his son, Joseph, whom he thought was dead. What a happy time for Jacob. My prayer is to respond like Jacob responded, "Here I am", short and simple.

H.o.p.e. Having Only Positive Expectations

Romans 12: 9-15

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Mother and Daddy, Happy 49th Anniversary July 9, 1960. Thought you would love these flowers, Mother!
Have fun today! I love you,

I love reading Psalms,

Psalm 70
1 Hasten, O God, to save me; O LORD, come quickly to help me. 2 May those who seek my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
3 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!" turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, "Let God be exalted!"
5 Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.
