Why, Why, Why...

I have asked myself this question, of why, why, why the last few days.  Why does God allow things in our lives?
Do I trust in God completely?
Why do I keep praying over and over again for the same person, situation, and nothing happens?
My aunt sent me this email today,  it spoke to me, yep, me...

Jim Dension wrote,
"the greatest blessing God can give us is to put us in a position where we must trust in him, for such dependence is our only path to joy. He will do whatever is necessary to disrupt our self-sufficiency and illusion of control."

The Great Pumpkin Night...

The granddog at Halloween...see how small Silas is?

Finally, Layton will put his hand in the pumpkin... last year, he would not...
I can so see his momma in him.  She thinks she is unlike me, but I can name ten things
today, that we are alike.  :)  I wish I had the pic handy of her doing the same at this age.

Yep, nasty feeling, I know. :)
Makes me very proud that she is doing the same things with him, that I did with her :)

Yep, we cook those seeds!
Happy Boy!

Work and Smile...

Ephesians 6:6-8
-The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language
Don't just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ's servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you're really serving God. Good work will get you good pay from the Master, regardless of whether you are slave or free.

7 girls, 3 boys.

Pic taken at the Chocolate Angel, our fav new place in Dallas.
All I can say is, these women were a mess yesterday.  I drove them to Dallas for their
birthdays... Opinionated, God fearing, happy, strong, "Shewood" women.
"Shewood", meaning, confident, strong, and caring.
I am truly blessed for all they contribute to my life.
I love each of you.

Job...offered or not offered...

I began reading Job this week.  My whole life, I guess I was always under the impression that Satan came to God and sought out Job himself.  Nope... you know what?  Look what the Lord said to Satan,

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

But even before God told Satan about Job, Satan was roaming back and forth, back and forth, through the Earth.  That is so scarey to me.  Roaming, looking, enticing, laughing, scheming... against us, believers.  But, God knew Job, God knew Job was upright.

Guess what else Satan knew about Job...he thought God had him so protected, hedged in, shielded from harm, that he didn't bother with Job.  God offered Job to Satan. Satan thinks he is so smart. As if he could ever win against God.  Don't you think Satan thinks a little about how big God is?  I do!  But his pride, gets him and he continues in his pursuit.

Alot happens in the book of Job, but in the end, God won, Job was blessed.    Lesson, if in the midst of everything going wrong, what if I, what if you, remember that God allows everything that happens to us.  It is faith in the one and only, almighty God, that can protect us!

Happy 71st Birthday Mother...

So, it is  my mother's 71st Birthday today, October 18.  Happy Happy Birthday Mother.  Just a few things I love about my mother.  Memory Lane begins here,
My mother loves  me and I KNOW it.  I think she loves me more than the others'. :) Thats' what they say anyway... lol
My mother always sided with my daddy.  They always won together.  And I did not like this. lol
My mother made delicious meals, and made menu's with construction paper - for us to see each week.  She made money go along way.  Gosh, I miss the fried meals, I can smell it now.
I remember having to share a twinkie with my brother, lol. That's the truth, no waste, no frills.
My mother served dinner at the table every night, with real dinnerware and cloth napkins. Yeppers!
I remember her serving food, family style at the table.  Not helping your plate at the stove.  As if,
My  mother made us clean the house with HER once a week, and she made us make our beds everyday.  Horror, right? :)
My mother has always worn makeup everyday and looked her best.
My mother reads her Bible and prays and I SEE it.
My mother loves gardening...and she knows how to kill a snake. Yikes!
I remember my mother with her mother.  She loved her mother. Her mother didn't wear makeup. :)
My mother has the best laugh... it is genuine.  Almost a giggle.
My mother is never bored.  She does not even like that word.
I have never heard my mother say a cuss word or drink.  I have certainly failed myself in that area!
My mother cares, she takes "lambs" to people in need.  Yep a "lamb" and its' cute.
My mother is freakin' strong.  If she is in pain, I don't know it.  You know when I am, lol
My mother is the strength of this family.  Absolutely, no doubt there.
My mother is real.  My mother loves my daddy.  Omg... omg...
My mother loves sweets. Oh yes!

I probably left out alot of things I will remember later, but, you get the gest.  My mother is one of a kind and I love her.

So, See ya tonight Mother.  I love you!
Surely,

So, this pic is from a few months ago.  We were working cattle.  This is one of
our fun days.  Early morning, barely any makeup on me, yuk, but I love
this day!

Flip...per...

House Flipping is Back.  According to the National Association of Realtors, house flipping in the first half of this year,  increased 25% compared to last year.
The areas that fared the best:
Phoenix (the most), Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta.

My experience,  I bought a property in 2006, I bought the property right, low price.  Tore up, fixed, repaired, spent hours, made pretty, marketed and sold a year later.  No money made, but lots' of experience gained.  Would I do it again?  Nope.  Maybe, one day when I slow down.  Was it worth it?  Yep.  You can't buy experience, you must experience --- to get experience.  I made countless memories with my husband, and my parents, working together.  We laughed alot and we stressed alot.

1964 TV Series

So, remember the show "Flipper"... I most certainly do.  He was a happy dolphin.  Guess what?  I was soooooo happy when I sold my flip...per!

Surely, :))))))

I attended the Board Officers Leadership Conference representing the
Greater Tyler Board of Realtors this last week.  Alot of time is spent in
representing our local board.   The Texas Association of Realtors did a

great job!  Here you see photo booth pics at one of the "get to know others"
event.  It was fun dressing up for a quick pic! :)
Yes, it was fun, after sitting in seminars all day, we needed this small
distraction.  The things you do when you are away from the everyday
work day.  lol

Salmon Croquettes...

1 14.75 oz can Red Salmon (black can)
Small onion
1 egg plus 1 additional egg white
salt and pepper
10 saltine crackers

Open salmon, remove dark skin and small bones.  Using fork, separate salmon in a mixing bowl, stirring to separate.  Add onion, egg, egg white, salt and pepper.  Mix.  Add crushed crackers.  Mix to combine.  I use Baker's Joy and spray a  pyrex dish generously.  Make six small patties with your hands.  Place in dish and bake on 425 degrees for 15 mintues on each side.
Delish!  I prefer the baked to fried. :)

Gettin ready...

Gettin' ready for "you know what?" :)
Rainy weekend, I think I stayed on Pinterest alot!
To make this wreath, you undo a wire clothes hanger and shape in a circle.
String any kind of balls you like! :)
This wreath, will most likely be in my office the day after Thanksgiving :)
Now, I am looking for the perfect ribbon to hang the wreath from!
Merry ...  (I will not say it yet!)
