Christmas Tree Brownies...

Okay, Kelly Davis, I know you can do this recipe!!!!
1 box Betty Crocker® Orginal Supreme brownie mix (with chocolate syrup pouch)
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
2 or 3 drops green food color
1 cup Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting (from 1-lb container)
Betty Crocker® Decorating Decors red and green candy sprinkles or miniature candy-coated chocolate baking bits
Miniature candy canes (2 inch), unwrapped

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Line 13x9-inch pan with foil so foil extends about 2 inches over short sides of pan. Grease bottom only of foil with cooking spray or shortening.
2. Make and bake brownie mix as directed on box for 13x9-inch pan, using water, oil and eggs. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Remove brownie from pan by lifting foil; peel foil away. To cut brownie into triangles, cut lengthwise into 3 rows. Cut each row into 7 triangles. Save smaller pieces for snacking.
3. Stir food color into frosting. Spoon frosting into small resealable food-storage plastic bag; partially seal bag. Cut off tiny bottom corner of bag. Squeeze bag to pipe frosting over brownies. Sprinkle with decors.
4. Break off curved end of candy cane; insert straight piece into bottoms of triangles to make tree trunks.

Thanksgiving shadow...

Little Layton stayed with me today...we cooked and baked all morning. He was a little needy to say the least...but, I put him on the bar stool beside me and he was very content. Love that little boy! He is so funny, his new words are, "Wow", "hello", "Oh gosh!" He cracks me up! What did I ever do before him? He just shadows me...my little friend... :) and that is what I am thankful for!

Thank God we live in Texas...

RECON newsletter-Texas A & M

TEXAS BOUND FOR FAST RECOVERY?
NEW YORK (
Forbes.com) – Texas’ four major metros are in the top ten fastest-recovering cities nationwide, according to Forbes magazine. Forbes ranked San Antonio the second fastest recovering city in the country, Austin the third, Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington the sixth and Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown the eighth. The magazine attributed their relatively quick recovery to San Antonio’s and Austin’s high number of municipal jobs, Dallas’ thriving technology industry and Houston’s energy sector, as well as the state housing market’s ability to remain stable while other states’ markets crashed.

Victory...

Proverbs 21:31

"The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD."

You know I am thinking, no matter what I try to do, how hard I try to do it, only the Lord can make it happen. My job is to do the best I can, and the rest is up to our Lord. So many times in the Old Testament, thousands of men went to battle and lost. It is not of ourselves, but our belief in the most supreme being, God. I suppose this is where Faith comes in!

By the way, can you believe the beautiful mane on this horse?

Fantasy Fudge...

The Buck stops here...

1 Samuel 9: 9 & 19

"(Formerly in Israel, if a man went to inquire of God, he would say, "Come, let us go to the seer," because the prophet of today used to be called a seer.) Saul approached Samuel in the gateway and asked, "Would you please tell me where the seer's house is?"

"I am the seer," Samuel replied."

This may not be funny to anyone else but me, but this week, I had a situation in my office where another agent wanted their broker to talk to the broker of Cornerstone. I said "I am the Broker". So, when I read the above passage I began to chuckle. (don't you love the word chuckle?)

Being the broker of Cornerstone basically means, the buck stops here! Reminds me also of the movie, The American President, where he says, "I am the President" or one of my favorite new sayings is "my name is RAM and my tank is full".

Click below, I love it! It is only 1 minute long and you will love it! he he he...

Commit...and serve...

I Samuel 7:3-4

"And Samuel said to the whole house of Israel, "If you are returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines." So the Israelites put away their Baals and Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only.

You know, I am reading through the Old Testament-IF there is anything that stands out to me, it is, that "people" turn their backs on God and after a TIME, they either turn from their ways and worship only God, or he destroys them all. I liken the word destroy to "Smitten". That is what God can and will do!

At this time in our nation, it seems like people only stray further from God. I just have to wonder what HIS time table is? What a patient God we have.

Cute as a Button...

One of my very good friends, Mike and Lisa Ace, have a daughter, Ashlyn Ace. She has a website called "Cute as a button". She paints all sorts of items. She is painting a canvas for me that will be hung in my guest bedroom. I will have pics as soon as it is finished. She is young and getting started. If you need any Christmas gifts, just browse her site...

Just click below:

My little man...

My little man is growing up...4 wheeling dude...he sure looks like his cute daddy ... and I suppose his beautiful momma... :)

Simple Sheep...

If you ever wonder why we are compared to sheep in the Bible, just read the characterics of sheep below. Sounds like us, huh?

I read this, this morning, "Be content to be simple sheep, listening to my voice and following me".

John 10:27,

"My sheep listen to my voice; I KNOW them, and they follow me".

I am sure glad "my" God knows me! If he does not know you, all you have to do is:

make him the BASE (click on Base to read older post) of your life,

B-Believe
A-Accept HIM
S-Switch from your old ways
E-Express to others

Characteristics of Sheep
1. timid, fearful, easily panicked
2. dumb stupid, gullible
3. very vulnerable to fear, frustration, pests, hunger
4. easily influenced by a leader, by the shepherd
5. stampede easily, vulnerable to mob psychology
6. little or no means of self-defense; can only run
7. easily killed by enemies
8. the shepherd is most effective, calming influence
9. jealous, competitive for dominance
10. constantly need fresh water, fresh pasture
11. have very little discernment in choosing food or water
12. best water source is early morning dew
13. perverse, stubborn - will insist on their own way , even eating poisonous
plants or drinking dirty water
14. easily "cast" - flipped over on their back, unable to right themselves
will die of starvation if not turned over by shepherd; helpless
15. frequently look for easy places to rest
16. don't like to be sheared, cleaned
17. too much wool can cause sheep to be easily "cast"
18. creatures of habit; get into "ruts"
19. need the most care of all livestock
20. need to be "on the move"; need a pre-determined plan, pattern of grazing
21. totally dependent of shepherd for every need
22. need "rod and staff" guidance

Now you know the rest of the story, lol, why we are compared to "sheep".... :)

Drama Queen...

I am thinking this is a good saying for SheWoodTime...Good golly, miss molly, there is always some sort of drama in my life... if you are family or you are my client, you will probably hear this once or twice!

Out of the mouths of babes...

This is from one of my clients-she commented on Facebook,

"Tonight Emery was being challenging so I told her that I did not want to go with her if she was acting like that & she said "so I have to go by myself?!"--ha--not exactly the conclusion I wanted her to come to!"

I think this is something I might say! ha!

Only wind...nothing...

This verse struck me today,
Proverbs 11:29
"He who brings trouble on his family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise."
Think on this: I read this in a commentary relating to this verse,
"He that brings trouble upon himself and his family, by carelessness, or by wickedness, shall be unable to keep and enjoy what he gets, as a man is unable to hold the wind, or to satisfy himself with it. "
(On a lighter note, as far as the fool being servant to the wise, I suppose we would all enjoy this, just sayin'...)

My two offspring... :)

Lauren colored her hair dark... makes those eyes pop out! I just think she is the most beautiful - in the whole world...

and, then there is little Layton, my mess... Lauren let him get a "blue" baby bottle sucker at the checkout stand in Target. Since we were in my car, I had to wrap a white towel around his neck. He sooooo loved that sucker... mmmmm...

New Version of Taco Soup...

A friend of mine, Lisa Ace, made another version of the popular Taco Soup. It was so good, I really think I may like this one better than my old one. And, I just believe adding fresh cilantro when serving, makes the flavor "pop". Mmmmm...

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 pkg taco seasoning mix
1 pkg ranch dressing mix
1 can black beans
1 can northern beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can corn (I used Mexi-corn)
1 can (14.5 oz) Rotel tomatoes, diced
1 can (14.5oz) stewed tomatoes
1 onion
1 cup water

Brown meat with onion. Drain excess fat. Add taco mix and ranch dressing mix. Mix well. Drain and rinse canned beans: add to meat mixture. Add corn, Rotel tomatoes and stewed tomatoes plus 1 coup of water (I used 2 cups). Bring to a boil and serve.

Garnish with fresh cilantro, shredded cheese and avocados, if desired!
